Standards, safety & type approval

Type approval, functional safety and owner's handbooks: what the standards demand.

Operating manual. Within the EU type-approval framework — Regulation (EU) 2018/858 — the operating manual must be available in the official language of the respective registration market. Details from type approval and UN-ECE regulations must be named exactly and uniformly across all language versions: a translated manual is part of the approval, not an accessory.

Functional safety. For control-unit and software documentation, ISO 26262 applies: ASIL classifications, safety goals and diagnostic terms — DTC per ISO 15031-6 / SAE J2012 — carry a defined meaning that must stay consistent across all languages so the evidence chain holds.

HMI & infotainment. Display texts are subject to character-length limits: translated control texts must fit the field without shortening the message. For high-voltage and e-drives, we render warning and safety notices word-for-word, because here any ambiguity becomes a liability risk.
